I set this stuff up in my custom sub box since I was almost on the minimum enclosed space per sub. I have great, deep, clear bass. This stuff works great in tight boxes.
Well i went back and forth on boxes to work with my subs, could not find a box that yould work so i went with the best i could find. Still to small but with some on the fill it is amazing how responsive my subs are and how clean they sound.
The moral of this story is that IF you're experiencing mushy or distorted bass response, give ACOUSTA-STUF a try (if your enclosure's a hollow cavern inside) and you'll find it's definitely worth the $10.00 a bag to get what you want out of your WHOMPER--OR--any other speaker you want an improved low end cps response from. Still with me.
I played the Tom Hazelton CD "The Pipes Of The Mighty Wurlitzer" at the San Sylmar Wurlitzer--which boasts true 16 cycle bass pipes, and with the sub cps cutoff at about 110 and the volume up to 2/3rds, the first selection "Mountain Greenery" blew the amplifier panel RIGHT OFF the back of the subwoofer. The dealers I called suggested and the online research I did recommended that I 1] replace the amp panel using larger screws (there were 10 in all) and 2] put some damping filler inside the enclosure, as well as buy some Monster Cable quality cables for the low level amp sub output to the subwoofer.
I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Mighty Wurlitzer fan, and having just received my two Dayton 300-632 10" 100 watt ported subwoofers wanted to see what just one would do. Finding it on A'.com, I bought 2 packs (I'll run both of the Dayton's), and just finished filling the problem sub with one pack, reattached the amplifier panel with the larger screws, using one of the high-grade cables between the amp and the sub.
I promptly purchased the screws at the local hardware store and got the cables online. And here's where ACOUSTA-STUF POLYFILL came to the rescue.
I played the same CD with the cps cutoff UNCHANGED and the volume just above 1/2 (NOT wanting to repeat the problem) AND.the polyfill ELIMINATED the spurious enclosure resonances, and gave me TIGHT bass response down to the Dayton's 25 cps limit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED--6 Stars out of 5.
